The original tetragrammaton symbol was relatively simple, consisting of just two parts: Yahweh, the name for the four-letter Hebrew word for God, and the pentagram. And then, through the years, the tetragrammaton was adopted by numerous religions and cultures and has been added to and embellished according to each group's beliefs. As you can see in this pendant, the symbol can be quite complex.

Here, the complexity makes for a more interesting design, adding layers of contrasting shapes and textures all visually held together by the central pentagram / pentacle. An oxidized finish combined with the cut-out technique create solid areas of detailed richness emphasized by the voids that surround them.

By contrast, the back of the pendant is simple without any detail and polished smooth.
